NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 1, 2000--
Plant Specially Designed to Meet Increasing Demand for Large-Scale,
High Value-Added XML Digital Content
INNODATA CORPORATION (NASDAQ: INOD), a leading provider of digital content outsourcing services, today announced that it will demonstrate the capabilities of its new XML Content Factory(TM) located in Mandaue, the Philippines, at Online Information 2000 to be held in London December 5-7.
The plant, which Innodata officially inaugurated this past June, is designed to feature approximately 2,500 state-of-the-art workstations and a wide array of proprietary and third party XML editing and content management tools. It is designed to be an international center of excellence for creating large volume, high quality XML-compliant information resources.
Innodata's senior consultants and information architects will conduct a series of scheduled presentations showcasing the unique structured approach utilized by Innodata at the XML Content Factory(TM) to create XML content.
The XML Content Factory(TM) is home to many of Innodata's information encoders, editorial specialists, and XML information architects. It is dedicated to serving the needs of electronic information providers, publishers, and owners of e-commerce content who need to create and manage large-scale XML information repositories.
Jack S. Abuhoff, President and CEO of Innodata, commented, "With our new XML Content Factory fully up and running, Innodata is uniquely suited to partner with content owners and disseminators to build and maintain mission critical XML resources delivered on the Internet. We view this as particularly strategic: in the Internet Age, XML is quickly becoming the differentiating form of content value-add for preeminent digital asset management solutions."
Abuhoff continued, "Until now, we used PCs to access static HTML web pages delivered page-by-page within a largely presentation-based protocol. Contrast this with Web-based services of the future: a new generation of XML-based repository architectures is emerging that feature dynamic data exchange, enabling people to use a variety of devices to extract the exact information they require from a wider variety of sources. It is our vision at Innodata to be a key enabling agent for this transformation. We will make it possible for the largest information repositories to take their presentation-based data and transform it into highly dynamic, flexible, content-defined information. We'll do this using a combination of high-level conversion and tagging tools, much of which we have developed, and our highly-trained technical resources.
"There is incredible momentum around XML in the market today. As a recent example, in a June 5 speech delivered at Tech Ed 2000, Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) Chairman Bill Gates described XML as one of the 'key elements' that will enable the 'move to the Internet as the [computing] platform' of the future, and Gates underscored Microsoft's high financial commitment to XML application development."
Industry experts believe that XML, otherwise known as the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)'s Extensible Markup Language, is destined to become the standard format for Web applications. Unlike HTML, XML inserts descriptions, often referred to as schemas, into documents in ways that support data exchange. This enables applications to exchange information among multiple XML-coded documents, making XML e-commerce transactions on the Web more efficient and significantly revolutionizing searchability and retrievability of content.
Innodata's XML Content Factory(TM) features the latest in fiber-optic based, multiply redundant network infrastructure in 54,000 square feet of configured project space. The Mandaue XML Content Factory is Innodata's sixth production facility, joining the ranks of the other Innodata production facilities strategically located in Manila, Cebu, and Legaspi, the Philippines; Colombo, Sri Lanka; and New Delhi, India. In addition, Innodata provides project support and professional services from its North American Solutions Center located in New Jersey and its European Solutions Center located in London.
